Sonny’s BBQ is a nice barbecue restaurant chain founded by Floyd Sonny in Gainesville, Florida in 1968. In 1991, Bob Yarmuth purchased the company and continues as the CEO and the owner of the company today. Sonny’s BBQ has now 113 restaurants across 9 Southeastern states and is headquartered in Maitland, Florida. Sonny’s BBQ specializes in Southern-style BBQ.
The company started franchising 9 years later in 1977 with a menu consisting of beef, pork, ribs, beans, chicken, and other sides. In 1988, Sonny’s BBQ had expanded to 77 restaurants across 6 states and Tillman sold the company to outside investors. In 1991, Bob Yarmuth purchased the company. In 2012, the company relocated its headquarters to Winter Park, Florida. Sonny’s Real Pit-Bar-B-Q to Sonny’s BBQ, the company changed its name in 2013.
